Our practice’s role in the Oakdale community is one that our team holds in the highest regard. We are also keenly aware of the critical role accessible dental care plays in our collective well-being. As Practice Owner and Principal Dentist of The Dental Centre Oakdale, I feel it’s my duty to explain our recent transition from an NHS provider to a fully private practice.
Our practice has proudly offered high-quality NHS treatment since opening in April 2000. However, the challenges of maintaining this standard of dental care under the current NHS framework have led me to this tough decision. Recently, we have lost two NHS associates, who have moved to other practices to pursue private dental services. Despite my best efforts to recruit NHS associates to replace these dentists, we have found it extremely challenging. This situation is not unique to us but is mirrored in many practices across Wales and the UK.
Transitioning to a private practice model (due to take effect in April 2024) allows us to offer the high-quality, personalised and comprehensive dental care that our patients deserve. Our practice is committed to making this transition as smooth and affordable as possible. That’s why we now proudly offer various monthly membership plans to ensure our community can access the quality dental services it deserves.
Comparing Our NEW Membership Plans to NHS Costs:
From as little as £8.50 a month, our membership plans have been structured to offer preventive care, such as dental check-ups and hygiene appointments, at a predictable and affordable monthly rate as.
Here’s how our plans compare to NHS treatment:
Personalised Care: Unlike the high patient volumes in NHS practices, our private model allows for longer appointment times, ensuring each patient receives thorough and attentive care. Also, patients will be able to access their dentist quickly.
Affordable Costs: Our membership plans are fixed—no hidden costs involved – providing peace of mind that our community can access quality preventative dental care for the whole family.
10% Discount: Besides routine preventative care, our members will also receive a 10% discount on treatments, as well as a worldwide emergency dental assistance scheme, not provided by the NHS.
Our priority remains the health and well-being of all our patients and their families. We are dedicated to this local community – not just as healthcare providers but also as active supporters of local initiatives. I am so grateful for the trust and support everyone has shown our practice over the years, and my goal is to continue serving the Oakdale community with the same care and dedication as always!
